Neurosurgery is a surgical speciality that focuses on the nervous system that is in control of all the other systems of the body including sensory organs like the arms, hands, legs, and feet. This speciality focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of the nervous system. This includes disease, illness or injury in the brain, spinal cord, nerve cells, spinal disks, as well nervous tissues. Neurosurgery is physically and intellectually demanding because surgeries can last for many hours and require the use of complex and intricate skills. Hand-eye coordination is a very helpful skill to possess to be truly successful.
What do they do?
Neurosurgeons often work closely with neurologists, and the non-invasive pathway is always preferred because neurosurgery comes with a lot of risk and is usually only necessary in life or death situations. Neurosurgeons treat:

In the hospital setting. Neurosurgeons often have several operations everyday. Due to the intense nature of the work involved with the brain, neurosurgeons are usually on call.
